How to become the next entrepreneur every VC will bet on?
28 February 2019 | 6PM – 8PM
Warwick Arts Centre
Have you got what it takes to be a successful founder?
In collaboration with Warwick Kickstart, we present to you the Family!
The Family is not an accelerator, incubator or fundraiser. So what is The Family exactly? What do they do and how can they help you in your entrepreneurial journey? Join Mathias Pastor who will explain how The Family is creating an ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs and why they believe amazing entrepreneurs can come from anywhere. He’ll discuss what makes a good entrepreneur and give you practical advice to help you with your startup.
Jack Rizvi will also be presenting around the topic of venture capital. What is a venture capital firm and how does it work? What’s the difference between Angel and VC money and how does this affect the criteria for how VCs select their investment opportunities?
There will also be time for Q&A and the speakers will be happy to answer all of your questions and provide advice suited to early-stage.
Mathias Pastor has built two edtech startups, Benotes and Teech, that were used by thousands of students, raising almost $1M from business angels for the latter. He studied Philosophy and Economics at Wadham College, University of Oxford and pursued various interests along the way, from advising on angel investing or consulting on Gen Z marketing to building crypto arbitrage bots and briefly working on a Credit Derivatives desk at an NYC hedge fund. For almost 2 years, he has been working at The Family as a Director, picking founders who join the portfolio and advising them in the building and growing of their startups.
Jack Rizvi is a final-year student at Warwick University who will join European venture capital firm Lakestar following his graduation. He previously spent time at various Berlin startups, most recently working in the investment team at German family office TruVenturo.
