Develop with our Buddy Scheme
The Buddy Scheme is a free service to our members that helps them in all things academic and extracurricular as they transition into university life. You are paired up with a mentor from the 2nd or 3rd year, and having once been in your situation, they understand the challenges and concerns you have. Learn from and develop with your mentor for your first year of university studies – and beyond! All our mentors are trained by a professional coach, so that the support you gain is the best possible.
Reach new heights with our resources
WBSS is proud to announce that we are currently working hard to collect resources that will benefit our members in academic, career and personal life. Expect practice psychometric tests, job opportunities, study material and tips, personal development strategies and more!
Frequently Asked Questions
WBSS is open for all students from all disciplines. Our members have great variety in the academic fields they study, and we value and appreciate diversity. If you are interested in the society, that’s all you need!
Although we are the largest independent society on campus, we take great efforts to respect our members’ personal needs and wants.
You can enter our Buddy Scheme and receive a mentor who will get to know you on an individual level over the year of guiding you through university life.
We also strive to appeal to as many members’ desires as possible through organizing a great variety of events every term. Corporate and social events are only the beginning of what we do: we also organize challenges, charity concerts, workshops, student networking sessions and so much more! Learn more about our events.
The WBSS execs are always open for a conversation and will take every effort to accommodate your feedback and suggestions into what we do as a society. In fact, some of the events we have organized were initiated by our wonderful members!
In this context, being independent means that we are independent of the Warwick Students Union. This means that if you want to become a member of WBSS, you do not need to purchase the Societies Federation Standard Membership. The WBSS membership fee of £6 is all you need to pay to be a member… ever!
Another notable difference is that WBSS, as an independent society, is able to hold internal elections for executive positions.
Our corporate events will always be free for members, and most are also member-exclusive. For our social events, such as parties and the annual ball, you need to buy a separate ticket.
However, look out for our member-exclusive deals and discounts!
